What we’re learning: Since we aren't married quite yet, I think what we are working on is making sure we really start off on a strong note and take every step we can to make sure we are ready for our future life together. I would recommend premarital counseling to everyone! Counseling doesn't just have to be for issues. It can just be about growth in your relationship and that should always be on your mind if you want marriage to be successful.

What we’re learning: Something that I would credit to greatly helping our relationship over the past three and a half years is listening and mindset. Whenever we have entered a difficult chapter of our relationship one thing that we have worked to build is the ability to assume the best of the spouse's actions or thinking. It is easy to let the mind wander and assume the worst of the other, but I strongly believe that facing the issue directly and going into the conversation with your spouse's perspective on the issue in mind is the best way to go about it. Approaching these situations as a team instead of two separate forces is crucial to reaching a common ground. Learning and practicing this has allowed Cassie and I to more easily tackle any issue at hand and return to harmony. Nobody wants to be fighting with their spouse, so trust that they are coming at the conflict with this same mindset of solving rather than winning.
